Junior Kindergarten Adventure Days

Age Range: 4-5 yrs. Children must be eligible for a Junior Kindergarten program for the school year.

Our Junior Kinder Adventure Days are offered one morning or afternoon a week from September until June. Included in the program are three – 13 week themes (descriptions below). No duty days or committee work are required and the program is led by a qualified Nursery School teacher at our Manotick location.

OOOEEY, GOOEY SCIENCE ADVENTURE – children will explore messy, sensory-based science with such activities as funny putty, magic muck, rainbow stew and ice cream in a bag. Literacy skills will be strengthened as children follow written directions and create a “recipe” book.

COLOUR MY WORLD – develop your child’s creativity, imagination and self expression through activities in music, movement and art. While developing their fine motor and spatial organizational skills, children will get to know the work of artists such as Claude Monet, Beatrix Potter and Pablo Picasso. Media will include water colour, pencil, collage, canvas board, loose canvas, tempera paints and clay. Creative movement will include dancing to the beat, experimenting with rhythm instruments and movement props such as ribbons, balls and beanbags.

LITTLE CHEFS – cooking is an exciting way for children to learn math and reading skills. Each week, children will cook up a storm as well as learning kitchen safety and nutritional information through songs and games. Children will produce a cookbook to take home at the end of the segment.
